We took a vacation from our vacation and spent the cold outside, but warm-in-the-heart Christmas and New Years holidays at home with our family and friends.
We fear the GPS, which we fondly named Naggy Maggy the Windshield Witch, led us to the frigid north instead of back to Port St. Joe, Florida, because it is cold outside! It's 22 degrees, although it's expected to "warm to freezing" according to the local newspaper.
Apparently, we didn't have to rush back to catch the next window for crossing the Gulf because out there the winds are 30 knots with 8 foot seas. After tomorrow a cold(er?) front is expected to bring in more arctic weather and wind.
I can't deny that it was good to get back. Osprey suffered no ill effects from the storms that rolled through in our absence, she just held her place in the slip and waited patiently for her family. Last night she rocked us to sleep like a cradle. I had missed that!
Today, Bob tightened the stuffing box on the rudder shaft and replaced a fuel line on the engine. (He said to mention that he also made the bed!)
Next week there's a Looper get-together with a shrimp boil and an informational meeting right here in the Port St. Joe Marina. We hope to meet some other Loopers with whom we can make the crossing.
